To say that 2020 has been a bitter disappointment is likely the understatement of the year.

You might recall that everything started off promising enough. Sure, there was already talk and concern about the novel coronavirus. But the general thinking seemed to be that it was a problem which was likely going to stay on the other side of the world. How wrong we all were then.

Until everybody, or very nearly so, is able to be vaccinated, the requirements for wearing masks in public and keeping a proper distance from each other remain in effect. That is one way people can help to improve their chances of staying healthy.

Whether you’re disappointed or uplifted by the results of the presidential election, we recommend you become more involved in politics on the local, state and or even national level. Localities are forever looking for leadership. Who knows? You could be the next member of council, school board, Virginia General Assembly, Congress, working to guide Western Tidewater, Virginia and the nation to a stronger and more prosperous future.

We all have a lot of work to get through this year, so it’s a matter of each person finding his or her potential doing what they can to right any wrongs, increase business and expand knowledge and so on.

Whether 2021 will actually become a better year for all remains for us to shape it as best we can. We’re confident Western Tidewater residents will do their part.
