NEWSOMS – Melvin Ike Rose, 67, passed away on Nov. 29, 2020, in his home. Born in Franklin, he was a son of the late James Royce Rose and Delores June Bradshaw Rose and was also predeceased by a brother, James Royce Rose Jr. and a sister, Mary Frances Howell.

Ike was a Navy veteran and spent most of his working years as a truck driver in the log woods with Sexton Logging and at other times working on the farm with family. 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judith Darden Rose; two daughters, Kimberlynn Rose Baggett (Benjamin) of Millennium, North Carolina, and Amanda Rose James (Freeman) of Williamston, North Carolina; a sister, Arlene Rose Matthews of Aulander, North Carolina; a brother, Randy Rose (Betty Jean) of Como, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Alijah Lassiter, Brayden Baggett and Blake James; and a special sister-in-law, Kathy Darden.

A memorial aervice with Navy honors will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, in Wright Funeral Home in Franklin with the Rev. Tom Wallace officiating. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Como Farmer’s Hunt Club, 309 Ebo Road., Como, North Carolina 27818.
