HANDSOM

Because of requirements that were established at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, St. Paul United Church of Christ cancelled all services activities in the church’s sanctuary, located in Handsom.

But on Nov. 1, the members returned to the church grounds for the first time to celebrate the church’s 115th anniversary. The congregation, led by the Rev. Dr. Joseph J. Ferguson, pastor emeritus, assembled in the church parking lot for the service. The pastor and some church officials sit under a canopy while members sit in their cars as a light rain started. After a brief service with prayer and a sermon by the Rev. Ferguson, all was focused on extending thanks to God for the successful years of the church and its members.

At the completion of the service, Communion was served for all in attendance.
