Local people in Southampton County are seeking offices in various capacities, such as town council. The options for all follow on this page.
Pete T. Twisdale II
How are you qualified to be on the town’s council?
When it comes to political experience I do not have an extensive background. I do have business experience on a personal and professional level and excel in the areas of public relations and communication. Putting these skills to work in our Town of Newsoms would help preserve and improve the town we love so much.
What issues do you want the council to address?
The main issue facing the town and the council are the drainage and improvement project that is in progress. Also, having town activities and functions to bring people and revenue to the town would be beneficial.
What do you like/dislike about life in Newsoms?
Newsoms has the small-town feel and a nice, relaxing pace which is the perfect environment for raising a family. Wanting to change this would be a mistake. Preserving what we have and improving what is in place will be the best way to work toward a successful future.

I love the Town of Newsoms. I have lived here most of my life.
What issues do you want the council to address?
I’d like to help on the drainage issues the town is having, and continue to help bring more life to the downtown area.
What do you like/dislike about life in Newsoms?
I like the small town atmosphere of Newsoms, but I’d like to see a little more activity than what we have now.
Note: The candidate for the Boykins Town Council did not respond to numerous attempts to participate.
