SUFFOLK — Jarvis Littleton Howell Jr., 71, a peace maker, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Oct. 14, 2020.
A lifelong resident of Suffolk, he was t
he son of the late Jarvis Littleton Howell Sr. and Nell Daughtrey Howell. Jarvis was also predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Jack and Lola Harrell; and a brother-in-law, Ted Douglas Harrell.
Jarvis was a 1968 graduate of Forest Glen High School and a 1975 graduate of Campbell College. He was a former farmer for 20 years with his father, and a case manager for Western Tidewater Community Services Board for over 15 years. He was a lifelong member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 44 years, Linda Harrell Howell; two sons, Jarvis L. Howell III (Maggie) of Suffolk, and Jack D. Howell (Sheila Sreylen) of Gloucester; a sister, Geraldine H. McDaniel (Paul) of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Joshua Howell, Jarvis Howell IV and Iroriel “Rori” Howell; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Harrison (William) and Judy Winslow (William); two brothers-in-law, Jack Harrell (Mary) and Jimmy Harrell; and many loving nieces and nephews.
An outdoor service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, in front of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, with the Rev. Warren Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
Jarvis carried this close at all times: “Hope sees the invisible, feels the intangible and achieves the impossible.”
