NEWPORT NEWS — Dennis James “Jamie” Watson, 41, passed away on Sept. 7, 2020.

Born and raised in Franklin, Jamie was predeceased by his father, George Wade Watson Sr. and his beloved cat, “Thumper.”

Jamie attended Franklin High School, and was a maintenance technician for seven years for Green Mountain in Windsor. He was an avid comic book and Walking Dead fan. Jamie will be remembered for his sense of humor and his love of animals. He never met a stranger and passed away with a heart that was just too big.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Alexis Anne Smith Copenhaver (Clarence “Cope”); three sisters, Ann W. Bryant (Wiley), Michelle Smith Tomlin (Michael) and Nicole Copenhaver; two brothers, John David Watson and George Wade Watson Jr. (Melody Blount); seven nieces, Amanda, Eliza, Kayla, Brooke, Mia, Tristan and Sadie; two nephews, Tyler and Ethan; and his fur babies, Ninja and Negan.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Jamie will be on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home. T-shirts and casual dress are requested for the service.

Memorial donations may be made to any animal rescue or shelter in memory of Jamie.
