BRANCHVILLE — Susan Oglesby Phelps, 66, passed away on Sept. 7, 2020, in her home.

She was born and raised in Roxboro, North Carolina, and was predeceased by her father, William John Oglesby.
Susan was a graduate of the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, and received her Master’s Degree from Virginia State University.
She formerly taught at Southampton County Public Schools, Southampton Academy, Greensville County Public Schools and Chaloner Middle School in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, an active volunteer with the Blackwater Regional Library and Bookmobile, and a member of Branchville United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kristen Nicole Phelps, and her mother, Janelle Owen Oglesby.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Blackwater Regional Library, Courtland Branch or the Blackwater Regional Library Bookmobile, 22511 Main St., Courtland, VA 23837.
