FRANKLIN

Although spring sports and the annual end of the year athletic awards banquet were canceled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, FHS carried on the tradition of the Bronco and Bronkette awards. This is the highest award an athlete at Franklin High School can achieve. Student-athletes earn points throughout their high school career for each season’s performance, contribution to team efforts, leadership, sportsmanship, overall attitude, and grade point average. The recipient must be a senior who will graduate in June.

The 2020 winners of the Bronco and Bronkette Awards are Myroen Barrett Jr. and Karina Espino.

Barrett played football, basketball, track, baseball and soccer. He will attend Old Dominion University.

Espino played volleyball, cross country, scholastic bowl and soccer. Epino will attend Virginia Commonwealth University.

FHS Principal Travis Felts said, “Both of these young people are outstanding representatives of FHS.”
