Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Western Tidewater is fortunate that there is a veritable cornucopia of individuals willing to share the bounty of their seasonal harvests via farmers markets. There are at least four venues of which we’re aware: Market on Main in downtown Franklin on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings; the parking lot at Old Point National Bank in Windsor on Friday afternoons; the parking lot at Bank of Southside Virginia on Saturday mornings; and the pavilion at the Suffolk Visitors Center, also on Saturday mornings.

In addition to produce, many people bring not only baked goods for sale, but also handmade soaps or even crafts.

As previously reported, the venues in Franklin and Windsor, for example, have been taking necessary precautions to help ensure vendor and customer safety during this COVID-19 pandemic.

For those of you who feel comfortable venturing out to such markets, please don your masks and/or gloves, and give each other some room as you seek out the flavors of summer.
