FRANKLIN — Melvin Lee Crumpler, 84, passed away on June 12, 2020, in Accordius Health at Courtland.

A native of Southampton County, he was a son of the late Hertford O. Crumpler and Edna Mae Parker Crumpler. Melvin was also predeceased by his wife, Virgie Mae Johnson Crumpler; two sisters, Martha Womble and Mary Lois Warren; and a brother, Dobbin Crumpler.
Melvin worked at Franklin Equipment Company, and was a member of Burdette Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Lillian Gunn, Beatrice Fowler (Mickey) and Irene Bailey (David); a brother, Marvin E. Crumpler; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 15, in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Poe officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.
