FRANKLIN
A Franklin man has been arrested on charges of attempting to sexually solicit an underage girl.
According to Maj. Camden Cobb, spokesman for the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office, detectives learned of messages being exchanged between a 13-year-old girl and an unknown person on June 1. A detective who has Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) training and works with the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began investigating the complaint.
On Tuesday, deputies and detectives were watching an area in Franklin where the unknown person allegedly planned to meet the underage female. When that person arrived, deputies reportedly confirmed he was the one communicating with the girl and took him into custody without incident.
The suspect, identified as Mickey Lee Bradshaw, 54, has been charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a minor and two counts of use of a computer or electronics to solicit a child, both felonies.
Bradshaw has been taken to the Southampton County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
