FRANKLIN – Beverly Earl Ellis, 82, died on June 3, 2020, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

Born on Aug. 17, 1937, in Nansemond County, he was the son of the late William E. Ellis Sr. and Katherine Johnson Ellis. He was predeceased by his first wife, Shelby Ellis, and his daughter, Cathy E. Moore.

Earl attended Chuckatuck School and retired from the maintenance department at Amadas Industries.

He was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Zuni Ruritan Club with 36 years of perfect attendance.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ellis of Franklin; a sister, Frances Richards of Suffolk; two brothers, William Earl Ellis Jr. (Loretta) of Suffolk and Charles Eugene Ellis (Faye) of Franklin; two grandsons, Adam Moore of Courtland and Ryan Moore of Franklin; one great-grandchild, Charlette Moore; a stepson, Bobby Cutchins (Diana); a stepdaughter, Angela Cutchin (Greg); four step-grandchildren, Robby Cutchins (Amy), Tonya Cornwell (Adam), Jamie Cutchin (Rachel) and Lucas Cutchin; and four step-great-grandchildren, Sykler Cutchins, Katelynn Woolfolk, Christian Cornwell and Lawless Cutchin.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home, and suggests that memorial donations be made to Zuni Ruritan Club, 20221 Ruritan Drive, Zuni, VA 23898.
