NEWSOMS — John David “Dusty” Barnes Jr., 74, of Newsoms, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, while in the comfort of his home.

John was born Wednesday, Aug. 8, 1945, to the parentage of the late John David Barnes Sr. and Marginia Richardson Barnes.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Agnes Bettie Cloyd Barnes of the home; son, Steven B. Barnes (Angela) of Richmond; two grandchildren, Brittney and Breya Barnes; two great-grandchildren, Zion and Kareen; daughter-at-heart, Phyllis Boone of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; grandchildren-at-heart, Nicalas Boone and Dominique Boone; great-grandchildren-at-heart, Samiyah, Nicayla and Nickiyah Boone; brother, Larry Barnes of Branchville; sister, Rebecca Ryan of Prince George; sister-in-law, Gloria C. Fields of Murfreesboro, North Carolina; brother-in-law, James H. Cloyd of Woodland, North Carolina; and a host of other relatives and friends.  

T.L. Faison’s Funeral Care LLC, 301 Park St. in Seaboard, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements where there will be a viewing on Sunday, May 24, from noon to 4 p.m., also Monday, May 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A homegoing service will be on Monday, May 25, at 3 p.m., in J. W. Faison Memorial Chapel at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clarence Myrick delivering words of comfort.

Mr. Barnes will be laid to rest at Mount Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery, Thomaston Road in Newsoms, Virginia.
