WINDSOR — James Wesley Holland, 89, passed away peacefully at his birthplace surrounded by his loving family on May 18, 2020. He was born on May 12, 1931, in Windsor, Virginia. He was a son of James R. Holland and Annie Lee Darden Holland. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Leatha Mae Holland; and his brother, Richard Lee Holland.
James Wesley was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a dedicated farmer from a young age. Wesley was an active member of Colosse Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Windsor Ruritan Club and served on the Farmers Bank Board for 36 years.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ellen A. Holland; two sons, Ray Holland and wife, Dotti, and Barry Holland and wife, Donna; three grandchildren, Maria Strevay (Mario), Tony Griffin (Tobey) and Melissa Hlinovsky (Jon); and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Wesley’s caretakers for their love and support during the last few years. They are grateful for their dedication and care of their family including Cynthia Cofield, Home Instead Senior Care and Heartland Hospice Care.
A graveside funeral will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery on Thursday, May 21, at 2 p.m.
