SEDLEY — Shara Drake Kitchen, 78, passed away on May 5, 2020.

Born in Suffolk and reared in Sedley, she was a daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt Drake Sr. and Iva Holland Drake, and was also predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Burgess, and three brothers, Theodore R. “Ted” Drake Jr., Wilbur Turner and Melvin Turner.

Shara was a 1960 graduate of Southampton High School.

She was proud to have worked for W.H. Scott Inc. for nine years and Southampton County Public Schools for 43 years.

Above all, she loved her family and gave them all she had to give.

Shara was a member of Sedley Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, William Nick Kitchen III; her children, William Nick Kitchen IV, Robin Kitchen Johnson and Martha Elizabeth “Beth” Kitchen; four grandchildren, Amanda Kate Johnson, Jenna Kit Johnson, Dalton Nicholas Hedgepeth and Drake Marlowe Holliday; and many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be on Saturday, May 9, in Rosemont Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Foreman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sedley Baptist Church or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 760 Lynnhaven Parkway, Suite 201, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
