On Tuesday, Southampton County deputies met with detectives from the Fugitive Unit of the Prince George County Police Department in Maryland. The PGPD detectives were searching for Sean Delante Pace, 31, of Clinton, Maryland, according to Southampton Sheriff’s spokesman Maj. Camden Cobb.

Pace was wanted out of Maryland for: armed robbery; theft under $1,500; handgun on a person, reckless handling of a firearm, assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree, firearm in use during a violent felony. Information developed by the Fugitive Unit caused them to believe Pace was possibly in the Newsoms area.

Once a specific location for Pace was determined, Southampton County deputies working with the Area 34 Virginia State Police troopers and Prince George’s detectives approached the suspected residence in the 28000 block of Westbrook Street, Newsoms. Pace attempted to run out of a back door, but was already surrounded and was taken into custody.

He was charged in Virginia as a fugitive from justice so court proceedings can begin to have him extradited to Maryland to face trial.

“This was a great team effort by the three agencies involved to quickly come up with a plan, adapt to changing information, and ultimately to arrest this wanted man without incident,” stated Cobb.
