Cases rise by 11

FRANKLIN

The Western Tidewater Health District now has a total of 143 cases of COVID-19, an increase of 11 from Wednesday to Thursday.

Suffolk has 65 cases, with 63 in Isle of Wight County, nine in Franklin and six in Southampton County. There are 25 hospitalizations in the district.

Statewide, there are 6,889 confirmed cases, and 208 people have died.

According to the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association, there are 800 confirmed positive COVID-19 patients in hospitals, and 537 patients whose test results are pending.

Combined, the positive and pending groups have 427 people in the ICU and 238 on a ventilator. Total ventilators in use at hospitals number 700 — about 25 percent of the number on hand.
