Ivor offers free WiFi, internet to students

Homebound students in Ivor and the surrounding area who do not have internet service at their homes now have a way to get their schoolwork done. The Town of Ivor is offering the use of its WiFi internet.

“It is a free service,” said Mayor Tara Kea. “All they have to do is park on the municipal building grounds at 8430 Bell Ave., access the program and do their work in the privacy of their own vehicle.”

The idea came about recently, Kea went on, when she and town clerk Jaime Power were just talking and wondering what the town could do to help during the coronavirus outbreak.

“Jaime came up with the idea of offering WiFi to the students, who will not return to school this school year” said Kea, “and I thought it was great.”

The myor began immediately setting the plan into action. By day’s end, she was ready to add the information to the town’s Facebook page.

“We hope it helps,” she added.
