So, the concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19) making its way stateside have become more and more of a reality. So much so that Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam not only declared a state of emergency on Thursday, but also ordered schools K-12 closed for at least two weeks.

All this is done not to inconvenience anyone by any means. We have no reason to doubt that such actions are intended to help prevent the spread of the virus and minimize its impact on citizens of this commonwealth.

As local officials advise in this issue, wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with soap and hot water. Don’t forget to keep your hands from your face, and always cover that cough or sneeze.

There could be some inconvenient — even possibly difficult — weeks or months ahead. But as a whole, we will get through it. We are stronger than we realize.
