On Feb. 11, Meherrin Elementary School hosted an evening of family learning. The night began with families reading together and working on individual student Accelerated Reader goals. The students and parents then moved into the second Code to the Future Epic Build Showcase where students were able to share the progress on their coding, Lego and robotics projects.

Throughout the evening, the students of Amy Hinson’s fifth grade book club carried out the topic of their current book, “Lemonade War” by Jacqueline Davies, and had their own boys’ versus girls’ lemonade stand war.

The money collected was then used to purchase a class set of the book for other students to enjoy and a full series hardback set for the school library.

The school would like to thank everyone who came out to support the event.
