Franklin Southampton Economic Development will host the seventh annual Partners in Progress event, which is described as an annual gathering of city and county representatives celebrating accomplishments from the prior year and envisioning future successes.

This will take place from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, in the Main Event in Downtown Franklin.

The keynote speaker will be Mike Grundmann, senior vice president of Workforce Solutions at Virginia Economic Development Partnership.

Grundmann is a 20-year veteran of Georgia’s Quick Start, and was director of advanced manufacturing for the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Working for Quick Start, he oversaw the development of more than 100 custom workforce solutions for companies including Ciba Vision, Pirelli Tire, Amazon, Sony Music and Gatorade.

Grundmann will be speaking on the Commonwealth’s effort to build a new world-class customized workforce training incentive to complement Virginia’s highly valued Virginia Jobs Investment Program training grant.

Partners in Progress is a forum to educate and inform the community at large about key economic development issues throughout the Commonwealth and this year with a focus on the impact of workforce development.
