Junior Betas of SMS compete at convention

COURTLAND
On Feb. 12-13, the Southampton Middle School chapter of the National Junior Beta Club traveled to Hampton to compete in the annual state Beta convention. The National Beta Club is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America. Its mission is to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students. SMS students competed in a variety of academic categories, as well as visual and performing arts.

Sixth grade student Kenneth Dreibelbis placed second in the Science competition, and seventh grade student Gracie Johnson placed third in the Speech competition.
