Winter storm warning issued

WAKEFIELD
The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a winter storm warning to be in effect for Western Tidewater and the Greater Hampton Roads region from 3 p.m. today, Feb. 20, through 7 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21.
An 80 percent chance of rain is anticipated between 1 to 4 p.m. today, with a mixture of rain and snow, changing to all snow, with an accumulation of less than half an inch possible. Temperatures will drop to around 33 by 5 p.m. Northeast winds around 9 mph.
Tonight, though, the chance of snow increases to 90 percent with 2 to 4 inches possible. Lows will be around 26. North winds will become gusty at 30 to 40 mph, especially along the coast.
Friday is expected to become partly to mostly sunny with highs near 38 and lows around 21, and north wind 10 to 14 mph.
Look for continued sunny skies on Saturday and highs going up to the low 50s.
If you must be on the roads tonight, be alert to hazardous conditions.
