Snow has arrived

FRANKLIN
Snow, with some rain, began to fall in Western Tidewater mid-afternoon Thursday as forecast by the National Weather Service in Wakefield. The agency had earlier today issued a winter storm warning to go in effect from 3 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21.
Less than half an inch accumulation is expected in the day as temperatures begin to descend. The low tonight will be in the mid-20s as snow continues to fall moderate to heavy, with 2 to 4 inches possible by 1 a.m.
North winds will become gusty at 30 to 40 mph, especially along the coast.
Friday is expected to become partly to mostly sunny with highs near 38, lows around 21 and north wind 10 to 14 mph.
Look for continued sunny skies on Saturday and highs going up to the low 50s.
If you must be on the roads tonight, the NWS advises motorists to be alert to hazardous conditions. The Virginia Department of Transportation advises motorists that freezing on roadways will begin as early as 7 p.m., with bridges and ramps possibly freezing sooner.
