FRANKLIN — Deaconess Alberta D. Pope of Mount Horeb Road, Franklin, Virginia,

Alberta D. Pope

departed her earthly life on Jan. 21, 2020, while a patient in Courtland Healthcare Center.

The Hertford County, North Carolina, native was born May 7, 1929.

Deaconess Pope was a member of Nebo Baptist Church, where she served on the Deaconess Board and Missionary Circle. She was a former member and president of the Monroe Chapel Missionary Circle.

Alberta was also a member of the Franklin Chapter of the Red Hatters Club.

Deaconess Pope was married to the late Johnnie L. Pope.

She was a Certified Nursing Assistant, employed with East Pavilion Nursing Home for more than 10 years.

Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her children: Albetty Alexander (Don), Muriel Myrick (Rev. Clarence), Johnny W. Pope (Nidia), Sharon Vernon (Trent); 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

The service of transition will be at noon on Thursday, Jan, 30, in Nebo Baptist Church, 10555 U.S. Highway 258, Murfreesboro, North Carolina, with Pastor James Brown delivering the eulogy.

Her remains will be placed in church for viewing by 10 a.m. The committal and benediction will follow in Piney Grove Church Cemetery, Newsoms, Virginia.

The service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., 224 S. Main St.
