Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

SEBRELL

Members of the Sebrell Civic Club are getting things ready for what will be the group’s 65th annual dinner and auction. That event is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 31, in the Sebrell Community Center, with the meal served from 5 to 7 p.m.

Comfort foods will again be served: barbecue chicken, barbecue pork and Brunswick stew. Plates of each dish will cost $8 apiece. The combo plate is just $1 extra, so why not splurge for the occasion? A child’s plate (ages 12 and under) costs $4 each. Of course a beverage is provided with each plate. If you just want a BBQ sandwich that’s $2.50; a slice of homemade pie is $1; drinks are .50 cents. Oh, and if you want a quart of Brunswick stew to take take home, that’s $8. Take-out plates are also available.

The auction will start right at 7 p.m., and will, naturally, feature farm-related items, such as cotton seed or fertilizer. There’ll be other practical, decorative and, most likely, tasty items on the block.

Raffles for ham and $100 are also included in the evening’s fun.

Profits will be devoted to supporting the Courtland and Drewryville athletic associations, scholarships, clubhouse maintenance and more community-based activities and events.
