PENDLETON, N.C. — Edith Davis Edwards, 94, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away in her home on Jan. 6, 2020, surrounded by her family.

Edith was born and raised in Boykins, Virginia, and was a daughter of the late Jessie and Gladys Davis. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Joseph Clarence Edwards Jr.; her daughter, Betty Anne Long; her sisters, Evelyn Rose and Frances Woodard; and two brothers, James Davis and Lewis Davis.

Edith was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. As the wife of a farmer and golfer, her life revolved around the everyday needs on and off the farm. She enjoyed the golfing travels and friendships that were made throughout the years. She was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories.

Edith was a longtime member of Roberts Chapel Baptist Church, where she served in various positions over the years.

Survivors include her children: Bobby Joe Edwards and wife, Beth Pruden Edwards; Patsy Edwards Marks and husband, Robert F. Marks III; and Sallie Edwards Smith and husband, David N. Smith; son-in-law, Leslie Long; grandchildren, Jason Long, Leigh Anne Long Parks, Abigail Edwards Foy and husband, Steve; Joseph A. Edwards and wife, Georgana; Bobby Thomas Edwards and fiancée, Virginia Fulenwider; Caroline Edwards, Kelly Marks Russell, Megan Marks Harrell and husband, Brodie; and Robert F. Marks IV and wife, Mary; great-grandchildren, Scott Russell, Jacob Parks, Jackson Foy, Cooper Edwards, Ella Harrell and Robert F. Marks V; her sisters-in-law, Louise Edwards Mann, Anne Edwards McPhail and Frances Edwards Warren and husband, Calvin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be in Roberts Chapel Baptist Church, Pendleton, North Carolina, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Jan. 9, with the Rev. Joseph Buck officiating.

The family will receive friends in the home.
