The Birdsong Trust Fund elected two new Trustees during its recent dinner meeting for 2019. New members to join the Trust are Clifton Harrell, president of Suffolk Iron Works, and Dr. Ralph Howell, partner at Howell Dentistry in Suffolk.

Harrell is a graduate of Randolph-Macon College and has been president of Suffolk Iron Works since 1991. Howell is a graduate of The College of William & Mary and the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Leroy Howell retired from the Trust during the meeting after decades of loyal and dedicated service, and served as chairman after the resignation of John C. Harrell in July of this year.

Also at this meeting, Kent Spain was elected to be secretary-treasurer, and Billy Chorey was elected to serve as chairman. Spain is a graduate of the University of Virginia and is a partner in the Suffolk Insurance Corporation. Chorey, also a graduate of the University of Virginia, is owner of Chorey & Associates Realty Ltd., and has served on the Trust since 2000.

The Birdsong Trust fund was formed in 1942 by the Birdsong Family with the sole purpose of giving monies to local qualified organizations, and during the current year the Trust has given over $100,000 to many different local entities.
