As work on the U.S. Route 258 bridge over the Nottoway River nears completion, tractor-trailer traffic will no longer be detoured around the bridge.

On Monday, Nov. 4, crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation removed the tractor-trailer detour, which had been in place to accommodate work on the bridge’s superstructure.

According to VDOT spokeswoman Jordan-Ashley Walker, motorists can expect to see construction activities on and near the bridge through the end of this week. But all traffic should continue to use caution and pay attention to signage while traveling through the work zone.

The superstructure work, she said, will extend the lifespan of the 59-year-old bridge.
