Bon Secours buys Southampton Memorial Hospital

Purchase includes two other affiliated hospitals

FRANKLIN

Bon Secours Mercy Health announced in a press released on Monday afternoon that it signed an agreement with affiliates of Community Health Systems Inc. to gain ownership of Southampton Memorial Hospital, Southside Regional Medical Center and Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center. No price was published in the statement.

The process is expected to be completed by year’s end.

Kim Marks, chief executive officer for Southampton Memorial Hospital, stated, “Bon Secours Mercy Health is well-respected for their work to sustain and enhance medical services, and we are excited to work with them to benefit our patients and community. Our hospital has been taking care of our neighbors, friends and family for many years and this will continue in the future.”

John Starcher, Bon Secours Mercy Health president and CEO, added, “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to add three strong, dynamic hospitals to our southeast Virginia footprint.
