COURTLAND — Verdell Haithcoats Person, 56, of Courtland, Virginia, departed this earthly life on Friday, October 11, 2019, while in the care of Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, Virginia.

Verdell was born on Monday, Sept. 9, 1963, in Northampton County, North Carolina, to the parentage of the late David Lee Morris and Adell Haithcoats.

Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of her husband, Martin M. Person; daughter, LaQuita Z. Person; brother, Jeffrey Haithcoats; and a host of other relatives and friends.

T.L. Faison’s Funeral Care LLC, 301 Park St., in Seaboard, North Carolina, is entrusted with the funeral arrangements, where there will be a viewing from 2 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16.

The celebration of life will be at noon on Thursday, Oct. 17, at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 802 Mount Zion Church Road, in Margarettsville, North Carolina, with Elder Angela Vick delivering words of comfort.

Mrs. Person will lie in state one hour prior to service.

She will be laid to rest on the church cemetery.
