CAPRON

On Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019, descendants of the late Benjamin Franklin Lamb and Rena Whitehead Lamb got together for a reunion. The event was held on the Lamb Farm in Capron, Virginia. It was hosted by Barbara Lamb Goodrich and Alice Lamb Samuels and their husbands. Charles Samuels and Tommy Goodrich.

Following a period of getting acquainted and renewing old family ties, a bountiful and delicious picnic lunch was held just behind the house, under huge shade trees — with a gentle breeze constantly drifting across the fields and through the yard. Charles Samuels asked for blessing of the food. After lunch, the cousins spent a lot of time telling stories, reminiscing about old times and sharing old photographs.

The following were in attendance: Barbara Lamb Goodrich, Tommy Goodrich, Alice Lamb Samuels, Charles Samuels, and Matt Montgomery – from Richmond; Louise Jordan Harrup, John Robert Harrup, and Beth Jordan Gray – from Courtland; Benjamin Franklin (Frankie) Parker and Clyde Parker – from Franklin; Sherry Parker Colbert and Robbie Colbert – from Virginia Beach; Megan Parker Sanders, Hayden Sanders, and Addison Sanders – from Smithfield; Sammy Winston – from Durham, North Carolina; Eloise Bunch Byrd – from Burlington, North Carolina; Robert Brinkley – from Suffolk; Linda Daughtrey Eure and Ritchie Eure – from Eure, N.C.; and Jean Daughtrey Hall and Gary Hall – from Wilson, North Carolina.

In a photograph from the 1940s, George Lamb, son of Benjamin and Rena Lamb, feeds hogs.
