James V. Carr Sr.

WINDSOR — James Vernon “Jimmy” Carr Sr., 72, passed away on Oct. 7, 2019, in Sentara Obici Hospital surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Isle of Wight County, he was a son of the late James Lonnie Carr and Nancy Verna Bradshaw Carr, and was also predeceased by a brother, William Lonnie Carr.
Jimmy was a retired roll finishing clamp truck operator on the No. 2 paper machine for International Paper.
He was a member of Carrsville Hunt Club and Delaware Hunt Club.
Jimmy was also a member of Colosse Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Nita Vick Carr; two sons, James Vernon “Jim” Carr Jr. (Farrah) of Suffolk; and William Tracy Carr (Candice) of Windsor; six grandchildren, Kristin, Jordan, Austin, Brennen, Melissa and Tiffany Carr; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved yellow lab, Gator.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Webb and the Rev. Steve Yarbrough officiating. Burial will follow in Windsor Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home, and suggests that memorial donations be made to Colosse Baptist Church, 6361 Rhodes Drive, Windsor, VA 23487.
