Doug Tucker

FRANKLIN — Charles Douglas “Doug” Tucker, 75, passed away on Oct. 5, 2019, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Doug was a lifelong resident of Southampton County, and was a son of the late Charlie and Alese Bailey Tucker, and was also predeceased by a brother, James.
He was a 1962 graduate of Southampton High School, where he was a standout pitcher.
He was a member of Newsoms United Methodist Church and Newsoms Hunt Club, and a past member of the Newsoms Volunteer Fire Department.
He had retired from the maintenance department of Hercules Inc.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing, baseball, softball and a good game of poker.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 29 years, Bonnie Ann Tucker; two sisters, Priscilla T. Griffith of Newsoms and Melissa T. High (Robbie) of Henderson, North Carolina; one brother, Steve Tucker (fiancée Margie) of Newsoms; three nephews, Greg (Shawna), Scott (Kelly) and David (Shena) Griffith; two nieces, Casey Carvalho (Adam) and Allison High; and a close family friend, Ruth Patterson Edsall; and his faithful pets, Dallas, Sandy, Grace and Sampson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Penny Rasnake officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home, and suggests that memorial donations be made to Newsoms Volunteer Fire Department or Newsoms United Methodist Church.
