Inez Marie Bryan Beale

ROANOKE — Inez Marie Bryan Beale, formerly of Franklin, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, in Raleigh Court Health & Rehab in Roanoke, where she had been a resident for the last four years.

Mrs. Beale was born in Northampton County, North Carolina, to Rosa Belle Bryan and Lokie Latham Bryan Sr. on May 7, 1921.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Ewell Thomas “E.T” Beale Jr; brothers, Earl, Douglas and Frank Bryan; sister, Ella Lassiter; and nephew, Mark Bryan.

Marie was 1939 graduate of Boykins High School. She was the oldest member of Vincent Grove United Methodist Church, where for several years she taught a youth Sunday school class. While she was a member of High Street Senior Citizen’s group, she wrote the county Senior News social column for The Tidewater News. Marie also had her own column titled, “From My Scrapbook.” She loved to write, especially poetry, and composed many poems for friends and special occasions.

Survivors include a daughter, Hilda B. Maggard of Franklin; a son, J. Thurman Beale and wife, Barbara of Roanoke; two sisters, Betty B. Martin and Shelby B. Rose, both of Boykins; a brother, L.L.”Junie” Bryan of Franklin and wife, Patricia; two grandsons, Craig Beale and wife, Kathy of Roanoke; and Daniel Beale and wife, Leigh Anne of Lynchburg; twin great-granddaughters, Ava and Emma Beale of Roanoke; six nieces, Deborah L. Hurdle (Willis) of Ellenton, Florida; Diane B. Klopp (Brian) of Mechanicsville; Tamara R. Worrell (Carter) of Boykins; Robin R. Roberts (Richard) of Irmo, South Carolina; Wendy B. Pulley (Roy) of Courtland; and Andrea B. Hill of Franklin; one nephew, Don Lassiter (Fran) of Winston-Salem; and many great-nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be in Vincent Grove United Methodist on Saturday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Fred Brockhausen officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Wright Funeral Home in Franklin.
