“Royal Sons and Daughters of the King” is the theme for the ninth annual Shades of Pink Gala, which is sponsored by the Pink is Power Cancer Support Group. The nearly sold-out event takes place from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, in the Regional Workforce Development Center at Camp Community College, 100 N. College Drive, Franklin.

This year’s honorees will be a mixture of survivors and caregivers: Linda Randolph, Joyce Diggs, Denice Grant, Marion Williams, Courtney Blunt, James Lee, Ryland Warren, Moses Wyche and chaplain Pauline Magette. Presenting the awards will be Audrey Lee, founder of the support group.

Shirley Reid, a 40-plus year cancer survivor, will light the memorial candle. Mary Boone and Kisha Way will present the memoriam.

Other participants will be: Empowerment and Uplifting Foundation founder Corey Olds bringing the welcome; Jennie Boykins serving as hostess; the Rev. Jeremiah Cole of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Newsoms, opening with prayer; Elder Billy Blow praying before the meal; Glenda Worrell awarding giveaways and raffles; Frances Sharp announcing silent auction winners; and Joyce Diggs giving the benediction.

There will not be a keynote speaker for the occasion, though Del. Roslyn Tyler (D-75) will attend to make some remarks and announcements.

Franklin Seafood and Steak Restaurant will provide the meal.

Featured activities will include a silent auction, photos taken and printed, vendors, a candy table and a comedian. The Culture Jazz Combo has been invited to perform.

Lee stated, “Pink is Power CSG would like to thank all who have made this day successful by assisting many cancer survivors and families in a less stressful journey.”
