Johnny and Jane Scott

FRANKLIN — Johnny Lee Scott, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 13, 2019, with his family at his bedside.

He was a lifelong resident of Southampton County, and a son of the late Johnnie Napoleon Scott and Leafy Marian Hatfield Scott.

He was a graduate of Franklin High School and a member of Black Creek Baptist Church.

Johnny was a longtime oil truck driver, farmer and a chicken grower. He was a 10-year veteran of the Virginia Army National Guard.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 59 years, Jane Elizabeth Parker Scott; one son, Johnny Lee “Scotty” Scott Jr. (Glenda); four grandchildren, Johnny Lee Scott III (Shannon), Jonathan Scott (Cora), Doug Bradshaw (Shannon) and Tina Bradshaw (Tara); four great-grandchildren, Madison Cooley, Becca Bradshaw, Dean Scott and Bentley Bradshaw; a niece, Marian Lewis; and his very special dog, “BooBoo.”

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Vivian Scott Gray.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Faison officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., and suggests that memorial donations be made to a favorite charity.
