Meherrin hosts back to school carnival

On Aug. 25, Meherrin Elementary School partnered with community members and local sponsors to celebrate returning to school with a Back to School Carnival. Students and their families enjoyed bounce houses, water activities, playground time and delicious food prepared by the Newsoms Volunteer Fire Department.
The school welcomed approximately 100 students and guests.
The school would like to thank the Newsoms Volunteer Fire Department, Space Walk Inflatables, White Oak Springs Baptist Church, Michael and Rebecca Drake, Shiloh Baptist Church, Newsoms Baptist Church, Newsoms United Methodist Church, Dr. Carolyn Modlin, Denise Bunn, Otis Turner, as well as community and staff volunteers, for making the event so successful.
