An employee of the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a Virginia State Police investigation, according to a Friday, Sept. 6, press release from Isle of Wight County Sheriff James Clarke.

Neither law enforcement agency has disclosed the identity of this employee, nor provided any information regarding his or her alleged offense. Sgt. Michelle Anaya, spokeswoman for the VSP, simply confirmed on Friday that her agency was indeed conducting a criminal investigation.

Clarke’s press release states that no arrest has been made at this time, and that, “Due to the ongoing investigation, there will be no further comment regarding this matter at this time.”
