Franklin High Broncos participate in opening cross-country meet

Franklin High School’s Boys and Girls Cross-Country teams had their opening meet at Greensville High School on Wednesday. They ran a 5K, which is 3.1 miles. The other teams present for the meet were Windsor, Southampton, Parkview, Greensville, Brunswick and ARGS.

The girls team raced at approximately 4:30 p.m. with a total of 23 runners competing. Franklin High Schools girls top finishers were: Mykeria Rawlings, finishing 13th with a time of 36:35; Alexis Gorgei, finishing 15th with a time of 38:28; Amayah Richardson, finishing 18th with a time of 40:12; and Aniyah Artis, finishing 19th with a time of 40:20.

The boys teams raced at approximately 5:30 p.m. with 40 runners total competing. Franklin High Schools boys top finishers were: Benjamin Owens-Kerbaugh, finishing 16th with a time of 23:14; and Samuel Stith finishing 39th with a time of 33:59.

Franklin High School Cross-Country team district meet is Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Franklin High School. The girls 5k race will begin at 4:30 p.m., immediately following is boys 5k race.
