FRANKLIN

A tree limb that fell on a Dominion Energy wire knocked out electricity for approximately 1,900 customers in Franklin on Tuesday afternoon.

This was confirmed by Mark Bly, director of Franklin Power and Light, who added that the line is a feeder into the delivery point for city customers.

Jeremy Slayton, a spokesman for Dominion Energy, said that limb fell at 419 Washington Ave., at 5:03 p.m. and power was restored at 6:02. As to why that part of the tree broke off is unknown. Slayton that there could be any number of reasons, such as it already being broken off by a storm and had just been hanging on until it eventually collapsed.

He added there were only three DE customers who were affected; the rest being with FPL.
