FRANKLIN — Polly Simpson Edwards, 81, passed away on Aug. 4, 2019, in her home.

Born in Nansemond County, she was a daughter of the late James and Elsie Darden Simpson, and was also predeceased by two brothers, Leroy and Bill Simpson.

Polly was a retired peanut inspector for the Virginia Department of Agriculture.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, William Randolph “Bill” Edwards; a daughter, Lynn E. Phillips (Barry) of Pendleton, North Carolina; two sons, Tony R. Edwards (Michelle) of Black Creek and Billy Edwards of Sunbeam; two sisters, Joyce McCauley (Bill) of Maryland and Catherine Knowlton (Roland) of Searsport, Maine; four brothers, Kelly Simpson (Darlene) of Suffolk; John Simpson of Marshall, Virginia; Robert Simpson (Brenda) of Warrenton, Virginia; and Earl Simpson of Searsport; five grandchildren, Madison Spivey (Eugene), Christopher Edwards, Courtney Edwards, Dawn Smith and Blake Edwards; four great-grandchildren, Emma, Ellis, Chloe and Paislee; a sister-in-law, Sue Simpson of Marshall, Virginia; and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

The celebration of Polly’s life will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, in Wright Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.
