FRANKLIN — Deacon Guy Thomas Freeman Sr. of Rosewood Avenue, Franklin, gained his wings on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019.

Our father, papa, brother, uncle and cousin was born on Sunday, Oct. 19, 1941, to Guy S. Freeman and Mae Etta Barham Freeman.
Guy Thomas Freeman Sr. was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Essie Lee Freeman; daughter, Carolyn L. Ricks Franklin; two brothers, Louis Freeman, Richard Freeman; and sister, Kara Mae Davis.
He is survived by three sons, Julius Ricks, Richard Ricks and Guy T. Freeman Jr. (Beverly); brothers, Emerson G. Freeman (Nancy), Willis H. Freeman; one sister, Joyce E. Freeman; 10 grandchildren; Tyresa, Zetronia, NorTasha, LaRosa, Charmene, Jamesha, Xavier, Julius, Jamila and Layla; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, James Howard Butts Sr. (Vernell)’ sister-in-law, Deborah Freeman; three nieces, Lucy Butts, Olivia Freeman and Ashley Keplinger (John); one nephew, James Howard Butts, Jr.; one great-nephew, Elijah; other relatives and many friends.
The homegoing service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, in Zion Southampton A.M.E. Zion Church, located at 17121 Wakefield Road, Courtland, with the pastor, the Red. Dr. Christopher A. Eason delivering the eulogy. His remains will rest in church for viewing by 11 a.m. The committal and benediction will be in Care Memorial Gardens.
The service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., 224 S. Main St., Franklin.
