UPDATE: Pedestrian killed in accident

An as-yet unnamed pedestrian has died as the result of an accident that took place on Friday in the 1400 block of Carrsville Highway in Isle of Wight County. Sgt. Michele Anaya, spokeswoman for the Virginia State Police, informed the paper that at approximately 3:29 p.m., the VSP were notified of the accident, which also involved an SUV.

She added that troopers were on the scene and confirmed this to be a fatality.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic was traveling eastbound on Carrsville Highway when a female ran into the path of the vehicle. The 41-year-old female died at the scene. Neither alcohol nor speed were a contributing factor. No charges will be placed.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Business 58 was still closed between Walters Highway (Route 258) and Lees Mill Road (616). Detours were put in place to take drivers from Lees Mill Road to Carver Road and then to Route 258.
