Riverdale Elementary School held its National Elementary Honor Society Induction on May 31. The students invited to join the organization demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and personal responsibility throughout the school year. There were a total of 80 inductees comprised of fourth and fifth grade students. All inductees received a certificate of membership, presented by the Co-Principals and organization sponsors.
By becoming members of the National Elementary Honor Society, students will participate in meaningful service to the school and community all while developing leadership skills. Riverdale’s Honor Society members have served as ushers for various grade level celebrations as well as daily role models for their classmates.
Tracy Brown, Doug Whitby and Ebonie Hicks lead the club as sponsors. The club is strongly supported by Co-Principals Tamee Railey and Kisha Watford, fellow staff members and parents.
Riverdale’s National Elementary Honor Society President Lily Peace presided over the program and delivered the definition of leadership as it relates to the honor society. Fellow officers presented the various pillars of the society as follows: Emma Irvine, Scholarship; Sophia Whitehurst, Responsibility; and Eliza Edwards, Service.
Riverdale’s National Elementary Honor Society would like to extend a thank you to everyone who attended their program in support of their accomplishments.
