WINDSOR
Windsor author Dale A. Jordan recently published her second children’s book, “Noah and Big Paws.”
According to the book’s description on barnesandnoble.com, “Having special needs is a reality for many students in our schools. These students endure specific challenges at home as well as at school. Noah is a child with special needs, and his parents want him to live a normal life as possible. They feel that giving him more responsibilities will help him overcome his challenges. Having a pet with special needs will help Noah strive for success in his own struggles. Noah is loved by his family as they prepare him for the challenges of learning in school and in everyday life.”
The 28-page book was published in hardcover format by Page Publishing Inc. on April 10. It is available at Barnes & Noble for $21.95, and will eventually be sold on Amazon.com, Apple books and Google.
Jordan, who publishes under her maiden name, Dale A. Joyner, said that “Noah and Big Paws” is geared toward early elementary school students.
“I want people to know that you can have a disability but still be OK,” Joyner said when asked about the inspiration behind her latest story.
On Saturday, May 11, Jordan exhibited and sold copies of her new book and her first book, “Yvette Likes School,” at the Windsor Ruritan Clubhouse for Totally Tots, which featured activities for children ages 1-6 as a fundraiser for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. According to Wanda Roberts of southeastern Georgia, who hosted the event, the fundraiser took in about $750 for St. Jude’s, which she said would help with the $2.8 million per year it takes to run the hospital.
“We didn’t have a lot of people there, but the vendors supported each other,” Jordan said of the fundraiser.
She also exhibited and sold copies of both books at Zion Baptist Church in Newport News on May 18. Her next event will be a book signing at the Windsor library on Tuesday, July 30 as part of the library’s summer reading program.
Jordan added that her first book, “Yvette Likes School” will be on exhibit at the New York Book Fair in Buchanan, New York, on May 29 and 31 in the new title showcase catalog.
