Franklin High track team advances to championships

FRANKLIN

The Franklin High School track team recently competed in the Tri-Rivers District Outdoor Track Championships, and each member advanced to the Region 1A East Championships. Both tournaments were held at Sussex Central High School.

The following athletes obtained a personal best time or distance in their event(s) at the Regional Tournament:

• Jah’Naya Jones – Shot Put 27’6”; Discus 78’7”

• Patience Rawls – Long Jump 14’4”

• Jamiya Stratton – 400 Meter Dash 1:20.33

The 4×400 relay team of Jaylon Santiful, Jamari Deloatch, Jamal Barger and Keshawn Waters 4:19.43. Kavon Hawks was the alternate.

The 4×100 team of Thomas Maxwell, Darius Eley, Myroen Barrett and LaSean Nichols-Porter improved their time to 44.9, and is the Region 1A East Runner-Up.

LaSean Nichols Porter also ran a time of 22.97 in the 200 meter dash at the district tournament to qualify for the State Tournament.

The 4×100 relay team will travel to East Montgomery High School in Elton on Friday and Saturday to compete in the VHSL 1A Outdoor Track State Championships.
