FRANKLIN — Phillip Alan Gibbs, 71, passed away on May 16, 2019, in his home.
He was born in Suffolk to the late Winton Ireland Gibbs and Ruth Nelms Sykes.
Phillip was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and was a retired roll finishing operator from Union Camp/International Paper with 41 years of service.
He was a member of the Bronco Club and VFW Post 4411.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years Margaret Davis “Pixie” Gibbs; two daughters, Virginia Gibbs “Ginny” Turner and Gretchen Gibbs Jones (Danny); a sister, Joyce Gibbs Ralph; a sister-in-law, Virginia “Ginger” Britt; a half-brother, Keith Glenn Gibbs; four grandchildren, Haylee Virginia Turner, Brandon Christopher Turner, William Daniel “Will” Jones and Margaret Susan “Margo” Jones; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Gracie, and beloved cat, BoBo.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Wright officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home, and requests that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local VFW or SPCA.
