A welcome move in Western Tidewater

We share in the enthusiasm about Repair’s Tech’s recently announced plan to not only expand its company, but also to relocate its operations base directly at the Pretlow Industrial Park on Pretlow Street in Franklin.

Repair Tech, which began 20 years ago, specializes in millwright, piping, steel fabrication and machining services. Some of the industries they serve are food processors, paper mills, chemical plants, recycling facilities, and power plants. They do projects such as plant modifications, shut-downs, design/build engineering, equipment relocation, new facilities construction and more.

The company, which is situated on Carrsville Highway next to the Franklin Regional Airport, stated last week that it intends to buy 15 acres at the site and invest $1M.

Understandably, we think that the business made the right choice in coming directly into the city. Had Repair Tech chose to stay put and grow on site, we would have been happy as well. Now, though, everyone’s happier.

Many thanks also goes to both the City of Franklin and Franklin Southampton Economic Development Inc. for their roles in securing the relocation.

We are hopeful that word of this move will go out into the business community network and encourage other companies to consider finding a home at the Pretlow park, or even in other areas of Western Tidewater.
