Gunfire reported at Dorchester apartments, Stonewall Street

FRANKLIN

Franklin Police are investigating two shots fired incidents that occurred on Wednesday evening.

According to Capt. Tim Whitt, a spokesman for the department, officers responded to the first incident at 9:40 p.m., which was reported to have occurred in the vicinity of the Dorchester Square Apartments at 1698 Dorchester St. After canvassing the area, the officers were unable to locate any suspects or witnesses.

At approximately 10:20 p.m., officers were summoned back to the apartment complex for a report of property damage. The owner of a 2000 Honda Civic found that a bullet had struck her unoccupied car.

Then, at 10:33 p.m., officers responded to the area of Stonewall Street and Maplewood Avenue after the FPD received a report of multiple gunshots being fired.

The officers’ investigation revealed that two houses had been struck by gunfire, one in the 200 block of Stonewall Street, where officers recovered bullets from inside the home, and another in the 300 block of Stonewall Street. Officers also recovered multiple spent cartridge casings of various calibers from opposite sides of the street. There were no reported injuries.
